What kind of company is NCR Atleos?
NCR Atleos was born in October 2023, when NCR spun off its ATM division—a division that was already the world’s largest provider of ATMs and ATM services—into a separate company. The new company would focus exclusively on self-service financial access. The spinoff was a milestone in NCR’s longtime drive to deliver and innovate self-service financial access.
When it was time to choose a name for the new company, we thought long and hard. What a responsibility to rename part of a 140-year-old company! Working with a global consulting group to survey thousands of stakeholders, we agreed we wanted our new name to convey key elements of our business: the NCR legacy, our global footprint and our ATM expertise.
Naming a new company in 2023 was not the easiest process, with so many companies already in existence and because we were a global operation. But we landed on a name we believe pulled it all together:
- “NCR”, to represent our heritage as part of one of the world’s most respected financial services companies.
- "At" a nod to the company’s past and present history with automated teller machines.
- "Eos,” for the dawn of a new era.
- “Atlas”, for a collection of maps, which represents our commitment to helping financial institutions and retailers around the world shift transactions to self-service.
NCR Atleos today
As a standalone company, we’re able to focus exclusively on self-service financial solutions. This singular focus sets the stage for continuous innovation in this one specific area, so we can bring greater value to financial institutions and retailers.
NCR was founded in 1884, before most people had telephones or cars. Now NCR Atleos is taking self-service financial access into a brand-new era. Learn how in this Bankadelic podcast.
