Frequently asked questions
What is NCR Atleos’ approach to Windows 11?
NCR Atleos has taken a strategic and customer-focused approach to Windows 11, prioritizing stability, security and broad compatibility. We support Windows 11 on Intel 10th gen (Comet Lake) and 14th gen (Raptor Lake Refresh) processors and have completed certification across our ATM Management Platform (AMP).
What does NCR Atleos recommend regarding Windows 11 adoption?
We recommend that customers evaluate their current hardware, upgrade cycles and network requirements before transitioning to Windows 11. Our team is available to provide guidance and support throughout the adoption process.
What should I consider when planning for ATM processor upgrades and a potential move to Windows 11?
When evaluating whether to upgrade your ATM processors and migrate to Windows 11, there are several key factors to consider.
- Current processor compatibility: Review the processors you currently use and determine which operating systems they support. Older processors may not support Windows 11, which could limit future software options.
- Network size and processor age: Consider how large your ATM network is and the age of your existing processors. A larger or older network may require a phased upgrade strategy.
- Future-proofing: Even if you’re currently running Windows 10, selecting processors that support Windows 11 can help future-proof your investment and reduce the need for another upgrade in the near term.
- ATM refresh cycle: If your ATMs are due for a refresh, this is an ideal time to align hardware and software upgrades to support Windows 11.
- Software stack requirements: Migrating to Windows 11 will likely require newer versions of your ATM software stack, including middleware and applications.
- Tailored guidance: Every customer has unique needs based on their install base, priorities and budget. We’re happy to discuss your specific situation to help determine the best fit for your organization.

Can I buy an ATM with a Windows 11 license today and run Windows 10 for a period of time while I prepare my ATM network for the migration to Windows 11?
Yes, NCR Atleos has made available a Windows 11 license with migration rights. This enables you to purchase a Windows 11 license but run Windows 10 for 24 months from purchase. NCR Atleos recognizes there will likely be both bank and industry certifications required before you can move to Windows 11.
Other than the PC core, what hardware do my ATMs need to have for me to run Windows 11 LTSC?
